Andrew Thayer
was born and raised in Texas, the son of an Episcopal priest and Episcopal school educator. Before following in his father's footsteps he graduated from the University of Texas with a BFA in Theater and for many years worked professionally as an actor and Director in New York, Washington DC, Los Angeles and London, where he played another guitar playing Texan named Buddy Holly. He met his wife Kelsey in Austin at St. David’s church and were married in 1994. After attending Sewanee he was ordained in 2004 in TX where he served St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in San Antonio and St. Bartholomew’s in Corpus Christi. In 2009, he was invited to study for a degree at Oxford University in England where he and his family lived for 6 years working both as graduate student and as a vicar for a rural parish in the Cotswolds. He is currently working to complete his dissertation bringing together continental philosophy and ecclesiology and will very soon, God willing, be The Rev. Dr. His wife, Kelsey and three children William (14), Natalie (12), and James (6) are looking forward to being with you at Trinity Church and School. Andrew’s interests include: cooking, running and swimming, tennis, guitar, theater, our Weimaraner ‘Otto’ & restoring and riding my old BMW motorcycle.
