The Tommy SANCTON, Quintet plays New Orleans Traditional Jazz & Spirituals.  For the fourth year in a row, New Orleans-born clarinetist Tommy Sancton brings his group to Trinity for a lively program of gospel and jazz standards played with the verve and feeling that are his hallmarks. The addition of trombonist/vocalist Ronell Johnson to the front line should give the band some extra punch, while pianist Lars Edegran, guitarist Seva Venet and bassist Nobu Ozaki lay down the rhythm. Sancton, who vowed to return to his hometown in the wake of Katrina, has reconnected with his roots as a regular performer at Preservation Hall & Palm Court and a professor of creative writing at Tulane.
HE CONSIDERS the Trinity Artists Series one of favorite musical rendez-vous.
